I don’t usually post general items of news, but in the midst of news of mass redundancies, an exodus of Aussie expats from ad-ghost-town New York, and general economic doom and gloom, I thought this site might help.
ONLY POSITIVE NEWS
Here is a news site which reports only positive news. It’s completely inspired me and from now on, I am choosing not to join in the downward negative spiral that’s sending our economy down the loo. Join me. Go out and buy something and help our industry thrive! Neil suggests guns, gold, and baked beans.

My personal favourite is archive 3 on the photography site. It reminds me of our trip to Shanghai together. Excellent fun. Those kids are a far cry from what communist China would have looked like only 30 years ago. Keep spending, youth of China – we’re counting on you!

I am thrilled to be one of the judges at this year’s ACMP Projections competition. I’m so looking forward to seeing work that isn’t limited by perceived market tastes. There’s plenty of time in the future to be worried about whether a shot would appeal to the David Jones’ and Telstras of this world, and it’s going to be nice to see some unadulterated creativity for a change. I think what older photographers seem to forget is that the Dan Tobin Smiths, the Terry Richardsons, the Bela Borsodis and the Warren Dupreez and Nick Thorton-Joneses of this world didn’t become great by creating folios that catered to every possible client and commercial genre. They just went off and did their own thing. I’m feeling really excited about it all and I just want to say a huge thanks to Fiona for assembling such a stellar cast of judges! I am looking forward to hearing what Julian Melhuish, Tony Rice and Ingvar have to say about the work and I hope there are some healthy arguments about what is ‘good’.

Check out Andrew’s work on my site. You can download his entire portfolio. Collider’s capabilities are huge and their resources are really only limited by clients’ imaginations. They have a proven ability to manage integrated aspects of a job, from print to film, including all aspects of post production. They also do a killer viral. It’s hard not to sound cliched and general, but they really can handle anything – and handle it with panache. I really felt like using a dated word this morning. Panache. It’s a goody isn’t it?

Well, it’s a very exciting day for me. Murray’s SALT site is up. I’ve just been in Melbourne to see his exhibition at Arc One and the works were even more incredible in real life than on the screen. Murray sold really well by the way. The world premiere of SALT is on the 20th of this month at the Adelaide Film Festival. Until then we can’t show the full film, but after that we are having some intimate screenings and Murray is going to speak about the film over a couple of beers. So it should be fun and interesting. I love hearing about the work – so few people have the guts to explore their work in such a Zen retreat kind of way.
Here is some of the work and the link to the trailer site is below.
Enjoy!

In another ironic turn, Julian – just another one of the uninsured masses – has shot the latest MBF campaign. You might have seen it instore at one of MBF’s shopfronts. Apparently MBF and their practitioners treat their clients like celebrities. They’re doing a great job to banish the very funny image I have of Steve Martin playing Orin Srivello DDS. If you haven’t seen it, please please please click this for some Monday giggles.
