Gen Kay/ Tess & Lea film

July 29th, 2009 § 0

Lucy here once again.

Gen has floored us once again with her lastest super 8 film. She has gone for a spooky, dreamy, convent schoolgirl vibe, its shot at Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne, featuring Tessa & Lea from Chadwick Models Melbourne. Click Here to see what all the fuss is about.

Jonathan and The Selby collaborate for old times’ sake

July 24th, 2009 § 0

Jonathan just did this incredible poster for The Selby.  You might remember The Selby’s shots of Jonathan and Annie’s place?  The poster was put onto Style.com – for those of you who know anything about fashion, that’s a huge nod.  The poster really reflects the randomness of the ‘things’ people keep in their homes.  Well it does to me anyway.

Gen / Daniel Radcliffe in the Guardian

July 22nd, 2009 § 0

Lucy here again.

Gen’s great pic of the wizarding triumph Mr Danial Radcliffe  was in The Guardian magazine on 4th July 2009. It was going to run as a cover but got booted last minute with the news of MJ’s passing.

This shot was taken under the Westgate Bridge in Melbourne, 100% natural light on 35 mm and Gen even had the luxury of bodyguards on hand. Unknown

Gen’s Pony club

July 15th, 2009 § 0

Lucy here.

These are the start of a new personal project taken at a Pony Club in Central Victoria.  Held once a month and attracts kids from throughout the region. This is an ongoing personal project that is looking at the relationship between girls and their horses and which will give Gen a good excuse to get out of the city each month! The girls range in age from primary school age through to early 20’s.

Inspiration – Nirrimi – 16 years old

July 14th, 2009 § 1

Nirrimi is the second under 18yo whose work has completely inspired me this week.  I found her work via Lost at E Minor (Zolton is a fellow Novocastrian).  The amazing thing about the internet is that the work of these prodigies can spread.  Nirrimi is based in Townsville and had she been born 20 years ago her work might not have been discovered.  Sydney model bookers should most definitely book a ticket to FNQ and get a hold of some of these young models.  They’re pretty amazing.  Nirrimi, don’t lose that freshness.

Gen shoots McDonald’s Happy Meals

July 13th, 2009 § 1

I have a double barreled confession to make.  My kids eat McDonalds.  And the worst part is..they don’t eat the healthy options.  I think those healthy options might be for display purposes only.  Like the little bits of plastic sushi they have in the window of Japanese restaurants.  Does anyone’s kids eat wraps and bits of fruit at McDonald’s?  I didn’t think so.  Ok so back to Gen.  I’ll start at the beginning.

Ages ago, Gen shot this amazing little story for Fabio Ongarato/Country Road.  It was such an incredible little concept and though Country Road never went ahead with using the shots, I just knew that some day we would get work out of this story.  The concept was to show kids doing stuff without showing their face.  They’re incredibly spontaneous and needless to say DDB loved them.  I have included them here as they’re so worth seeing and it might give an insight into how we get work for our artists.  The McDonald’s work, which is out today, is underneath.  Gen shot the food too.
