I won’t crap on about it here. There’s enough crap in the article (Ash- crap spoken by me, not you.)

We found him! Chris Mollison

October 15th, 2009 § 0

52

We have something to be extremely excited about at the agency.  We are representing a new young talent who we believe to have the most potential of any photographer since a baby Julian teamed up with upstart Leo Premutico (and look what happened to them!)  We’re working with Chris Mollison as an investment into his and our future.  The projects we have planned together are of a higher level of sophistication than we have seen in a very long time, and we’re so keen to start working together.

Chris has only been shooting for two years.  He was the star of his RMIT class, and has already shot for Sony Ericcson, Target, Olay, and Mercedes Benz, after having assisted Sydney’s best, including Andreas Smetana, Sean Izzard, Troyt Coburn, and Ian Butterworth.

Julian will be back on Monday

October 15th, 2009 § 0

After a month away in UK shooting snow angels having sex, Julian will be back on Monday. And with his books completely up to date, we are ready to rock and roll.

Rebecca Wolkenstein agency goes on tour.

October 15th, 2009 § 0

We are very excited to announce that after months of planning and legwork, the Rebecca Wolkenstein Agency has gone on tour.
A selection of our favourite advertising agencies will hold a boutique exhibition of artists works over the coming months.

Publicis Mojo was bumped in today.  You can see from the camPhone images that it’s a pretty amazing mix of media.  Andrew is presenting a pencil print on canvas, Murray’s Academy Award nominated film, SALT, is on a loop on a big screen, Gen has presented the most divine film stills, and Beci has submitted a giant laser cut tree!

Next round will see Jonathan Zawada’s screen printed mirrors, Chris’s now not-so-secret Where The Wild Things Are on-set shots, and Julian’s headspinning wallpaper.

The show will then head to DDB and follow to Saatchi & Saatch, Lowe, Ogilvy, Droga 5 and more in the new year.

Some of the works will be for sale, please make contact with  lucy@rebeccawolkenstein.com

Post script by Bec: This is a simple idea, but I want the world (or just my blog readers) to know how much behind the scenes work went into this by Cam and Lucy and I want to say a massive public thank you to my amazing team and artists for delivering as usual.

Create on the RW site

August 11th, 2009 § 0

This is just a quick one to say that Create is now on my main site.  There’s a link there to donate if you’re feeling the urge to help Create something a bit more meaningful than another Toyota or Coke or Special K scamp.  Or email me if you want to use your creativity in a more practical way to help out.  Is there a cause more worthy of your time?  I hope you like the picture.  It looks like it could have been taken by one of my guys (it wasn’t).

Create Foundation

August 5th, 2009 § 0

At the risk of sounding embarrassingly new age, I have come to the realisation that the only way to bring good things into your life is to let go of some of the greed, and to support people who are really struggling.  Not being able to buy a new lap top or another pair of ballet flats is not struggling.

I was in the car and heard an interview on ABC Radio with Jacqui Reed of The Create Foundation who help kids leaving foster care by helping them with support, training, health, employment, rights and housing.  I heard one of the advocates, an ex foster kid himself, and I realised how little attention the issues around foster care get in the media, yet the issues lead to so many social problems.  You have to remember that these kids haven’t grown up with their own parents guiding them through life and some of them go from home to home, never really settling.  Create helps them find their independence and also works in advocacy for the improvement of foster care, giving a voice to the kids and young adults who have really been shafted – excuse the expression – by life.

So I am giving 2.5% of our income to Create, and though it isn’t a massive amount, I hope to be able to help Create in other ways, through the blog, through our promotions, and through a general awareness that our partnership will generate.  I love the idea that ‘creating’ can mean using the resources available to achieve independence, stability, a career.  The Create Foundation is trying to build a stable place so that the only limitations to creating a life are the limits of the imagination.

Beci and Jonathan co-repped by Jacky Winter

August 5th, 2009 § 0

Just a quick post to announce what many of you will already know.  Jeremy at Jacky Winter and I are co-repping Beci and Jonathan.  That means that I will still be representing them but we will have the advantage of all of Jeremy’s amazing resources like Basecamp to help facilitate our work.  So if you’re a fan, call either one of us – practically speaking, if you’re in Sydney, call me, and if you’re a Melbourne client, call Jeremy.  But if you like talking to me, call me, and if you like talking to Jeremy, call Jeremy.

Linefeed – Michael Bojkowski

June 30th, 2009 § 0

My site recently received props from the man I believe to be the foremost design commentator in this country.  He recently wrote a State-of Design article that received lots of Twitter attention around the world.  Michael write a little piece about the agency which you can see here:  http://linefeed.presspublish.info/2692 and a great article about Beci which you can see here http://linefeed.presspublish.info/2690

The linefeed site design is unpretentious even taking unpretentiousness to the extreme of not being ironically minimal in its design.  Wow, that’s a complicated statement but it’s the best way I can describe my observation.  If you care about design, check it out.  It’s quite all-encompassing and caters to the pedestrian use of design, including user experience of city design, as well as speaking to the design nerd.

Free ads

June 25th, 2009 § 0

You might have noticed my natty little ads running down the LHS of my site.  If you’d like a space for free (free for one month and no obligation from then on), just drop me a line.  My RSS isn’t the most viewed site in the universe, but I can tell you that the kind of people who look at it are quite a targeted audience.  The kind of people who look at my site are other photographers, creatives, art buyers, other stills production houses, and you can bet on a few other agents coming on here to check it out.  So the ad space is perfect for freelance stylists, make up artists, web designers, studios, model makers, prop houses etc.  Drop me a line any time.

Projections 09 Sydney tomorrow night

May 27th, 2009 § 0

For those of you who are on Facebook, you can get all the details on the event here

Basically it’s 630pm tomorrow night at the Chauvel. You’ll need to book a ticket.  I unfortunately can’t make it (I will try though), but there’s some great work in there.  I was a judge.  They did a DVD which comes out with Captured Magazine.  Hopefully they won’t be doing an AV display with a recording of me saying all sorts of idiotic things like ‘all photographers should get bar jobs right now’. They interviewed me on a gloomy GFC-heavy day.
