MyDog

We knew there would be a payoff for being an animal hair specialist.  Julian shot this in Melbourne last month for My Dog.  Did you know they wash the peas for dog food shoots?

Beatbox Kitchen

beatbox_meredith_mailout

For anyone attending Meredith this weekend, please pay a visit to Beci’s husband Raph’s Beatbox Kitchen.  He’s serving chicken schnitzel raps (intentional misspelling if I know Raph), shroom burgers and grilled tomato and cheese piadina.  Oh and ice cream sandwiches.  Look out for the giant Beatbox.  Yes, that’s right.

Beci and Jonathan in ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’

Good-Bye-Yellow-Brick-Road

Beci and Jonathan are exhibiting with our other favourite person, Jeremy on the 27th November. It’s to raise money for Youth with Cancer.  Is there a worthier cause?  There are lots of familiar names up there, but we are proud to say that the three in the RW family are most definitely the best ones.  (You should be able to read the venue, times, and dates on the flyer which is stunning by the way.)

Rebecca Wolkenstein agency continues on its tour

November 18th, 2009 § 0

The Rebecca Wolkenstein Traveling Show is a touring exhibition of personal work by our photographers and illustrators.  The show includes behind the scenes images from Chris Searl’s time on set with Spike Jonze.  The images from Where the Wild Things Are appear with kind permission from Warner Bros.  Gen Kay is showing stills from her super 8 film titled “Holly’, shot at sunrise on the Victorian coast.  Beci Orpin has created a two meter high laser cut ‘memory’ tree.  Other pieces include photographic screen printed mirrors by Jonathan Zawada, a limited edition sketch on canvas by Andrew van der Westhuyzen, and a giant piece of optically unnerving wallpaper by Julian Wolkenstein.
The show has traveled to Publicis Mojo and is currently at DDB.  Eight other major agencies will host the show in the new year, with work by new signs Richard Freeman, Chris Mollison and Pete Daly being added.

Three of a kind: Beci, Madeleine and Iggy&Loulou

November 11th, 2009 § 0

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.  Please enjoy this sweet prose lifted straight off the Three of a kind blog.

Melbourne lasses Beci Orpin, Irene Grishin-Selzer and Madeleine Stamer have more than their art in common. For instance, they are all very fond of warm buttered toast, giggling offspring, Haigh’s giant chocolate frogs and daydreaming about phantasmagorical parallel universes. One sunny spring afternoon the three girls had a consecutive light bulb moment. A neat idea to have an exhibition together, they aptly named their joint venture ‘three of a kind’.

The show is on at

Lab X Gallery

40 Pakington Street, St Kilda, 3182,

Opening night fri 20 nov 6-8pm

BACK_blogThis is the new album artwork that Beci did for electro-folk group Whitley.  Electro folk?  Did we just become old?  Lawrence got a great write-up in the weekend paper and we wish him all the best.  Something tells us he won’t be needing our blessing…

Here is a really sweet single for Emporio Magazine which Myer puts out.  Very cute silhouette and those look like the contents of my brain!

Rebecca Wolkenstein agency goes on tour.

October 15th, 2009 § 0

We are very excited to announce that after months of planning and legwork, the Rebecca Wolkenstein Agency has gone on tour.
A selection of our favourite advertising agencies will hold a boutique exhibition of artists works over the coming months.

Publicis Mojo was bumped in today.  You can see from the camPhone images that it’s a pretty amazing mix of media.  Andrew is presenting a pencil print on canvas, Murray’s Academy Award nominated film, SALT, is on a loop on a big screen, Gen has presented the most divine film stills, and Beci has submitted a giant laser cut tree!

Next round will see Jonathan Zawada’s screen printed mirrors, Chris’s now not-so-secret Where The Wild Things Are on-set shots, and Julian’s headspinning wallpaper.

The show will then head to DDB and follow to Saatchi & Saatch, Lowe, Ogilvy, Droga 5 and more in the new year.

Some of the works will be for sale, please make contact with  lucy@rebeccawolkenstein.com

Post script by Bec: This is a simple idea, but I want the world (or just my blog readers) to know how much behind the scenes work went into this by Cam and Lucy and I want to say a massive public thank you to my amazing team and artists for delivering as usual.

Beci Orpin designs for Kit Cosmetics

October 6th, 2009 § 0

Beci has just done the cutest colab with Kit Cosmetics.  She’s been a big fan of their packaging for a while so she was thrilled to be approached to embark on a joint promo, including windows, a Beci Orpin/Kit tote, a limited edition cosmetics bag, and instore posters and banners.  Love the palette!
