Tokyo Girls

December 1st, 2009 § 0

Gen has just returned from shooting for Agnes B in Tokyo.  She snapped polaroids of all the girls she shot while there.  Darya is an up and comer.  Gen also shot a Super8 film of her so stay tuned.

Sam Haskins has passed away

November 27th, 2009 § 0

We’re very sad in the Wolkenstein camp.  Sam Haskins, after suffering depression following a stroke, has taken his own life.  Sam was a fellow Highlander and a brilliant photographer.  I’m not sure what else to say. A legend, but words sound trite at a time like this.

Click here to see his CNN interview, shot the day before the stroke.

Let’s get physical. Richard for Grazia

November 13th, 2009 § 0

Rich has unleashed his inner Nick Knight in this incredible sportswear story for Grazia, out this week.  If you buy the mag, you will only see the sharp shots.  If you’re lucky enough to be visiting the RW news site (which you obviously are), you will see these out-takes which are so commercially marketable and versatile that they’re like a gift from Richard to us.  He is always experimenting, pushing, adding and the great thing is that the resulting work feels new but it’s far from challenging to sell.

Richard Freeman: Polished fashion photographer and all round nice guy.

November 3rd, 2009 § 0

1Bally

It’s so hard finding the right artists these days.  It takes so much patience and searching, and so much delicacy.  The right balance has to be found, niches have to be filled, gut instinct has to be allowed to rule.  This is why I am thrilled to announce that Richard Freeman has come on board.  He comes with zero ego, Kiwi humility, and an absolute passion for light and beauty without any of the nonsense.  He has only been shooting for himself for three years and has already scored a Vogue cover.  His page on the site is going up in the next week or so, so keep an eye out for it.  If you can’t wait til then, click here to see more of his work and partake in some pure escapism.

Where Aren’t the Wild Things?

November 2nd, 2009 § 0

Harper’s BAZAAR recently commissioned Chris to shoot a scantily clad girl in the freezing Southern Highlands in a sweet little pastiche of his stills taken on Spike Jonze’s set three years ago.  Mark Vassallo even had a fierce little Max hat commissioned for the shoot and a DIY gold crown.  The incredible Cameron provided production support for which we all say thank you.  The shots are really special.  We hope you like them.

Beci for Myer Emporio Magazine

Here is a really sweet single for Emporio Magazine which Myer puts out.  Very cute silhouette and those look like the contents of my brain!

Gen and Jethro

October 26th, 2009 § 0

Gen shot this film of Jethro Cave a couple of months back and she has been saving it for The Ones 2 Watch. TO2W usually results in a major stats spike so it was worth keeping it a secret and letting them post it first.

Click here to watch the film. Ah youth.

And here are some stills.

Tina Kalivas design and build by Jonathan

October 15th, 2009 § 0

tina

Jonathan has redesigned and built Tina Kalivas’ website. We often forget what a talent he is in this area. He doesn’t do a massive amount of website work any more but saves himself for special clients. And then pulls out the big guns. You really should click here and see it for yourself as our blog doesn’t do it justice. It does stuff. Not in a flying toaster kind of way. Its quite sublime and gentle, but at the same time, very cool.

Kate Banazi and Chris Searl Collaborate

October 15th, 2009 § 1

In a gratuitously creative exercise, Kate Banazi has transformed some of Chris Searl’s back archive.  Kate is a brilliant Jacky Winter artist who assisted the legendary Kate Gibb on her Dries Van Noten work in London.  She’s really infused the shots with a completely different kind of energy.  It’s almost like Chris’s sublime work has been given a Berocca.  We’re really pleased to take credit for hooking these two up.  The trend to combine creative forces like this has been a long time coming in Australia but we are hoping to see more of it and hopefully facilitate it for our guys.
