Free ads

You might have noticed my natty little ads running down the LHS of my site.  If you’d like a space for free (free for one month and no obligation from then on), just drop me a line.  My RSS isn’t the most viewed site in the universe, but I can tell you that the kind of people who look at it are quite a targeted audience.  The kind of people who look at my site are other photographers, creatives, art buyers, other stills production houses, and you can bet on a few other agents coming on here to check it out.  So the ad space is perfect for freelance stylists, make up artists, web designers, studios, model makers, prop houses etc.  Drop me a line any time.

Tamara Maynes – Crafter Extraordinaire

April 14th, 2009 § 0

My friend down here in the Highlands, Tamara, has finally got herself an online presence. Til now, she has been Sydney’s best kept secret. Most stylists worth their salt will know of her, but I just thought I would blog a bit about her as she is actually an amazing production resource. Tamara makes things. I guess the kind of things that you might brief her to make would be custom stitchwork for shoots, props, especially soft props, custom homewares, and basically anything crafty. She’s working on a top secret project with Julian at the moment. Let’s just say that what she’s doing for him is in theory impossible. But they have photographic proof that Tamara can make anything.

Here’s Tamara’s bio:

After starting out as a record store signwriter in 1989, Tamara Maynes moved into fashion merchandising quickly followed by the launch of her five year long fashion label 50ft Queenie whose claim to fame was fan British songstress Roisin Murphy.
After a collaboration designing and producing fashion accessories was picked up by French label Kookai in Australia, Tamara was asked to develop accessories and personals for interior store Empire Homewares. Landing in Sydney around this time was the famed Versace Exhibition for which Tamara was invited to design and produce a collection of accessories and soft furnishings. This began a love affair with interiors that is currently predominant in her work.
The launch of a self labelled, limited edition homewares and personals collection onto the Australian and New Zealand boutique wholesale market gained much success which was followed by the invitation to undertake product design and development for Orson & Blake.
Currently, Tamara is also a specialised maker focusing on fabric and crafts and has been commissioned by Mokum Textiles, and Inside Out Magazine to bring creative concepts to life in the form of props and craftwork illustration.
In 2009 Tamara also plans to make her limited edition collectables available online, expand her craftwork illustration and design commission service, and pursue a design book collaboration of the crafty kind.
Tamara lives in and runs her studio Bespoke Workshop from the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales just a hop, skip and jump from her predominantly Sydney based clients.
